ROS(Root Oriented Society)는 흙을 다루는 작가들이 모여 작업의 재료이자 삶의 근원인 땅을
경험하고 통찰한다.
《뒹구는 돌은 언제 잠 깨는가》전은 4월부터 8월 사이 채집한 국내 열두 지역(가평, 광주, 경주, 남양주, 안동, 양주, 영월, 이천, 의성, 정선, 파주, 평창)의 토양 데이터와 야생 점토 샘플, 그리고 프로젝트를 진행하며 마주한 여섯 작가의 경험이 녹아든 작업을 공유한다.
땅을 통해 나와 우리를 구성하는 세계를 이해하고 지속가능한 재료와 삶을 탐구하는 새로운 관점을 제시한다.
*전시명 ‘뒹구는 돌은 언제 잠깨는가’는 이성복 시인의 시집 제목이다.
ROS(Root Oriented Society) is a collective that soil-handling artists gather to experience and gain insight into the land, which is the material of work and the source of life.
The exhibition “When Do Rolling Stones Wake Up” shares soil data and wild clay samples from the 12 regions(Gapyeong, Gwangju, Gyeongju, Namyangju, Andong, Yangju, Yeongwol, Icheon, Uiseong, Jeongseon, Paju, and Pyeongchang) of South Korea collected between April and August, and the artwork of six artists who involved in the project.
Exhibition allows us to understand the world that makes up us through the land. And it presents a new perspective on exploring sustainable materials and life.
*The title 'When Do Rolling Stones Wake Up' was borrowed from the title of poet Lee Sung-bok's poetry collection.
